Doctor

  • Dr. Ruthann F. Carr , D.V.M.

Dr. Ruthann Fox Carr is a native of Mason, Ohio. After 13 years experience at a busy Cincinnati practice, she returned to her hometown to open Mason Family Pet Hospital in 2003. She received her D.V.M. degree in 1989 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She holds a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Miami University.

Dr. Carr grew up on Fox Run Farm in Mason where her family had cattle, ponies, dogs, and cats. Her father, Thomas E. Fox, M.D., was a popular family physician who served the community for over 35 years. These two influences stimulated her desire to become a veterinarian from a very early age.

Her favorite areas of veterinary medicine include surgery, ophthalmology, complicated internal medicine cases, and behavioral problem solving.

In her free time, Dr. Carr is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mason.  She enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her husband, two children, two dogs, and two cats.

Dr. Sagel spent the past three years working in two eastern-Cincinnati practices treating dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pocket pets.  She and her husband, Jay, reside in West Chester with their young, twin daughters and an energetic Cocker Spaniel.

In her free time, Dr. Sagel enjoys traveling, boating, camping, gardening, and cooking.

Technician

  • Julie Kramer, LAT

Mason Family Pet Hospital proudly added Julie to our staff in August 2006.  She has 5 years experience as a veterinary assistant in a small animal hospital.  Most recently she spent 7 years as a laboratory animal technician and manager in research at Children's Hospital, caring for all sorts of animals from mice to sheep.  After the birth of her son, she decided to give up the long drive and long hours and return to private veterinary practice.  Like Dr. Carr, Julie was born in raised in Mason, and the two were aquainted with each other as kids taking dance lessons at Cunningham Dance Studio.  Julie is available to see appointments for your small furry pets such as mice, hamsters, gerbils, rats, and rabbits.  She is also in charge of inventory for the hospital.

  • Rusty the Cat , Office Manager

Rusty was one of our cats to be adopted out through our relationship with the Warren County Humane Association.  After letting him roam the hospital some, we realized how at ease and happy he was here, so we allowed him to stay.  He likes to greet the cats and dogs in the waiting room and has absolutely no fear of other pets.  He's usually up to mischief, but we love him just the same!Vetsuite_Img_36921
